He also left Oakland after the 1995 season to manage the Cardinals. And led the team to 3 National League championships and World Series titles in 2006 and 2011.

Tony and Elaine are the founders of Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation, headquartered in Walnut Creek, California, USA. The foundation rescues abandoned and injured animals and conducts programs to bring dogs and cats to abused children, hospital patients, the elderly and the trapped.
