Brian wanted to train this personality for the upcoming Mr. Texas bodybuilding competition, so he granted him a free gym membership with the condition of entering the competition. At the aforementioned event, Coleman won 1st place in both the heavyweight and overall categories. Coleman also defeated trainer Brian himself.

After his win, Coleman competed in NPC championships in 1990. At this event, this personality took 3rd place. Then he started taking bodybuilding more seriously and worked on his physique to become a professional bodybuilder. His pro career began when Coleman won the Canada Pro Cup in 1995. He was previously married to French-Lebanese personal trainer Rouaida Christine Achkar. The two met in March 1998 at a sports exhibition in Paris. Coleman and Achkar tied the knot on December 28, 2007 in Beirut. However, this marriage ended in divorce soon after.
